When is Summer Leadership Institute?

SLI will take place on Monday, July 29 - Thursday, August 1, 2019. School teams are encouraged to meet at their home school on Friday, August 2. Schools should defer to their principal for guidance on Friday, August 2.

Where is Ron Brown?

Ron Brown College Preparatory High School is located at 4800 Meade St NE, Washington, DC 20019, between 48th St. NE and 49th St. NE.

Will parking be available?

There is limited un-zoned street parking one block away from the school, on 48th St NE, 48th Pl. NE, and 49th St. NE between Lee St. NE and Sheriff Road NE. Please read all parking signs before parking. We encourage all staff to utilize public transportation and ride share services.

What are the public transportation options?

• Metro: The school is metro accessible, and is just a 3-5 minute (0.2 mile) walk from the Deanwood Metro, on the Orange Line. Use the exit toward Minnesota Ave. NE. For the most up to date report on metro services, please visit WMATA.

• Bus: The R12, U7, V14, W4, and U4 bus lines run near the school. Please visit WMATA for directions.

• Bikes: A Capital Bikeshare dock is available on Minnesota Ave. NE, between 48th St. NE and Quarles St. NE. A bike rack is also available in front of the school on Meade St. NE.

 

Attendance

Who should attend SLI?

Principals, Assistant Principals, Instructional Coaches and TLI Teacher Leaders should attend Summer Leadership Institute.

I can’t attend all four days. What day(s) am I required to attend?
Each day provides unique content so we strongly encourage you to attend all four days. Please reach out to your Principal or Superintendent if you need assistance given your availability.

How do I sign up for sessions?
Additional details for your schedule will be shared as we get closer to SLI. Please be on the look out for further instructions.

Will I get PLUs for attending the Summer Leadership Institute?
Yes, attendance will be taken each day of the Institute. PLUs will be uploaded to the LEAP Platform in the fall of 2019 in alignment with the days that you attended.

Will my attendance at Summer Leadership Institute be confirmed with my principal?
Yes, your principal will receive confirmation of your attendance at the conclusion of the week.

 

I’m a 10-month employee. How and when will I be paid for my time when I attend SLI?

We anticipate that administrative premium payments to 10-month employees will be processed in fall 2019. Payments will either be processed in your regular paycheck or mailed to your address in PeopleSoft as a supplemental check. Please make sure the mailing address you listed in PeopleSoft remains up to date.
 

Will materials distributed at SLI be made available online?
Yes, an email will be shared in the weeks leading up to the Summer Leadership Institute to provide access to all materials distributed at during SLI.
 

Logistics

Will there be a Mother’s Room?
There will be a private Mother’s Room available for your use at SLI. The room will be well-labeled and easy to find.

Is there a dress code for the event?

Business casual dress is followed for SLI. Jeans are permitted.

What should I bring to Summer Leadership Institute?
Please bring your laptop and a charger to the Summer Leadership Institute. Otherwise, just bring yourself! We will provide all necessary materials.

Will there be childcare?

Unfortunately, childcare will not be provided. Please make alternate arrangements.

 

Will there be food offered at the Summer Leadership Institute?

Lunch and a light breakfast will be provided, please be sure to RSVP to communicate any dietary restrictions you might have.
